Nissan Armada, Voted SUV of Texas

There are so many reasons to love the 2017 Nissan Armada, it is both rugged and luxurious all at the same time. It was also crowned the SUV of Texas recently by the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA).

The two day competition took place on a ranch near Austin, TX that put more than 70 vehicles to the test, including trucks, SUVs and crossovers. There were on-road and off-road courses and the Armada surpassed its competitors to take home the title of the SUV of Texas. In all it was a big night for Nissan under the starry Texas sky as they won a total of six awards, of which three went to Nissan Titan full size pickup lineup.

“We’re honored to have the all new 2017 Nissan Armada recognized by the SUV experts of the Texas Auto Writers Association,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager of North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles. “Armada provides a unique combination of luxury, power, and utility, including best-in-class standard towing and a suite of advanced Nissan Safety Shield technologies such as Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Backup Collision Intervention.”

As I mentioned there are several reasons to love the Armada, but here are some key features that Diaz points out….. Its towing capacity is rated at 8,500 pounds thanks to its 5.6-liter Endurance V-8 it shares with the Titan and Titan XD. The engine produces a respectable 390 horsepower and 394 lb-feet torque.

And as Diaz mentioned, the Armada ranks high with families who care about safety including the aforementioned Predictive Forward Collision Warning and Backup Collision Intervention, as well as Blind Spot Intervention and Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection.

The interior isn’t just luxurious, it is also spacious, receiving best-in-class 2nd row headroom (40 inches) and best-in-class 2nd row legroom (41 inches).

Nissan believes in choices too, you can choose between SV, SL or Platinum trim levels, coming in 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive configurations. The base SV trim starts at $44,000 and the Platinum edition starts at $59,990.

Armada holds 8 passengers and is ready for your ‘full-size family adventures’ of Texas size proportions.
